Y'akoto shares "I Agree" music video

The German singer unveils the visuals of “I Agree”, a single from her recent EP Obaa Yaa.

Born to a Ghanaian father and a German mother, Jennifer Yaa Akoto Kieck aka Y’akoto, has built a musical career in a very cosmopolitan environment. Originally from Hamburg, Y’akoto has lived in several countries, including France, Cameroon, Togo, Chad and Ghana, where she currently resides. Highly influenced by Africa, Y’akoto is an artist who is in constant search of herself and this is why she considers her music to be Soul-seeking rather than Soul.

“I Agree” evokes for the singer the fact that “nothing really matters in life. We have to accept the present moment more. Life is a mystery, and most of it is beyond our control.” As for composition, Y’akoto says she had a lot of fun creating the samples with her voice.

The music video was shot in Accra, Ghana, in a neighbourhood where the singer usually walks. Directed by Jhey Too Cool, the video features Y’akoto, Champion dancers Rolie and Demzy Baye, Incredible Zigi and her friend Sister Deborah.

Listen to Y’akoto in our Songs of the Week playlist on Spotify and Deezer.
