Nubiyan Twist share "Buckle Up"

Through this third single, Nick Richards and guest feature Soweto Kinch signal the coming of the long-awaited Freedom Fables on February 5.

“Buckle Up,” the third single from the album, brings together the best of the Nubiyan Twist formula: demanding brass arrangements, a percussive groove, soft and soulful vocals, tortuous bass lines, complex percussion and a live-oriented electronic dimension reminiscent of the band’s debut five years ago in Leeds’ underground clubs. The track features British saxophonist and rapper Soweto Kinch who joins the collective’s lead singer Nick Richards.

The young collective has played a part in the British renewal of jazz standards, and is now one of the most popular acts on the new English scene. Nubiyan Twist bridges the gap between the best of British neo-soul, current UK jazz and Afro-groove. Among them are the very promising Anglo-Nigerian Ego Ella May who recently graced the COLORS stage, and the Ghanaian highlife legend Pat Thomas. Mixing moral tales and parables of modern life, this new long-awaited album is surely the most accomplished the collective has yet produced.

Freedom Fables will be released on February 5 via Strut Records. Available for pre-order here.
