After having surprised us with their EP Anyway, Fiyahdred stirs the knife in the wound by releasing a summary of their afro-club influences in a PAM Club 100% dancefloor, 0% leftovers.
A few months ago, we knew Fiyahdred under the pseudo Bamz, through tracks already released on major labels such as Club Djembe or Future Bounce, without forgetting the EP The Classix 2, collection of works around classics of the UK Funky scene. New name, new course in 2022 for the artist who then released Anyway on the prestigious Hyperdub label, five tracks made of amapiano riddims, garage humidity, RnB vocals, soca rhythms or dancehall sweat, with an obvious penchant for black and queer music. You just have to take a look at their different Boiler Room sessions to understand the altruism and generosity that this non-binary artist deploys behind the decks. A willingness to have fun with music is also reflected in their latest track “Bottle Riddim” -where Fiyahdred taps on plastic bottles- or on this haunting and unexpected cover of James Blake’s “Retrograde” released on YouTube. Since discovering FL Studio at the age of 10, Fiyahdred has ingested a lot of music, and now offers us a glimpse of their funky UK, afro house, afro tech and dancehall influences in this exhilarating and refreshing set.
