“Tong Gweno” is another hyper-frenetic electronic Acholi cut from Otim Alpha.
Over a decade ago, Otim Alpha started reinterpreting traditional Acholi wedding songs with music software on computers. The result gave birth to fast-paced poly-rhythmic music ready for dancefloor madness known as Acholitronix. Nowadays, Otim is still making one of the most furious electronic music from East Africa, and “Tong Gweno” is the latest example of that.
Otim Alpha teams up with producer Leo Palayeng and Umojah for this mad Acholitronix banger. The music video was shot in Gulu’s streets, highlighting traditional customs as Alpha, in ancestral outfits, invites passersby to join his dance.
