The Lagos born Mohammed Animashaun with the stage name, Moelogo is a British-Nigerian songwriter who is bringing a new feel to r’n’b and afrobeats.
UK based afrobeats act Moelogo has released a new body of work. The project, an EP, is the follow up to his 2016-released sophomore mixtape Ìréti.
That project (which translates to ‘hope’) saw him rise to prominence in the United Kingdom and back home in Africa, as the likes of Davido and Sarkodie remixed “Penkele”, the standout track from the project.
His latest release follows the traditional elements of Moelogo’s artistry. The eight-track project infuses elements of r’n’b and afrobeats.
This peculiarity in sound has seen Moelogo collaborate extensively with Nigerian artistes such as Adekunle Gold, M.I Abaga, Show Dem Camp and Blaqbonez.
He moved to South London in 2001 and found a love for singing through his school’s music class. His sound is distinctive and diverse; this is evident in his songs which span the genres of jazz, r’n’b, hip-hop and afrobeats.
The Magic EP has no features, portraying Moelogo as an artiste that has understood and mastered different aspects of making timeless music, as he did on his last.
