Karun, Flexfab, Jinku, Tite, KMRU, Slikback and Pier Alfeo shared a studio in Nairobi and made a record.
Extra Muros is a creative residency program for experimental electronic music artists from all over the world that takes place once a year in different locations (2019 Kenya, 2020 Italy, 2021 Persian Gulf).
The first edition was made at Elefant Studios in Nairobi, Kenya with the help of SMEM and Varia Instruments. Artists Karun, Flexfab, Jinku, Tite, KMRU, Slikback and Pier Alfeo got to know each other by exchanging perspectives on the world, life and art, while collaborating beyond their individual disciplines.
The result take the shape of a 7-track compilation titled “Extra Muros – Kenya” and a documentary presenting the daily life and challenges of alternative electronic musicians in Kenya.
