Pongo unveils her new video clip “Uwa”, a track from the singer’s latest eponymous EP.
Since leaving her homeland for Portugal, Pongo has come a long way before becoming the accomplished artist she is today. The latter who brought her great flow and lyrics for the urban kuduro of Lisbon’s suburbs – by joining her voice on the Buraka Som Sistema single “Wegue Wegue” – hasn’t lost sight of her dreams of being a singer one day.
This new clip unveils the African culture rooted in her. Shot between Senegal and South Africa, the video is a tribute to her African roots. The artist returns to the continent for the first time since she and her parents had to flee the civil war in Angola.
The title of the clip “Uwa” evokes the shriek of the children in Angola when they play and dodge the ball in the streets, a nod to her past and her origins.
You can listen “Uwa” in our One Dance playlist on Spotify.
