Hollie Cook’s “Full Moon Baby” announces new album

Four years since her last project, Hollie Cook is getting ready to release a new album, Happy Hour, out June 24.

The daughter of Paul Cook (drummer of the Sex Pistols) and Jennie Matthias (backup singer of the band Culture Club) has just released a first single, accompanied by a video, “Full Moon Baby”.

In this new clip with a retro aesthetic, we see Hollie Cook celebrating love and life with a soulful reggae atmosphere. Her sweet and terribly intoxicating voice mixes with the swaying rhythm and dreamy harmonies of the track. A British figure of contemporary lovers rock – the style of pop and soul infused reggae that has been rocking Britain since the 1970s – she drew inspiration from the power of the moon and newborn babies for her new single: “Two of my closest friends had recently had babies,” says Hollie Cook, “I was bursting with hope and love. Both moons and babies have such a sweet, comforting nature.”

Scheduled to be released on the American label Merge Records, this new album promises to be spiritual, introspective and about letting go. To make it, Hollie Cook has surrounded herself with her faithful band, General Roots, and half of the electro-experimental duo The Fireman (alongside Paul McCartney), and producer Martin “Youth” Glover. A beautiful reunion, for a Happy Hour that promises to be memorable.

Happy Hour, out on June 24.
