Ballaké Sissoko performs hypnotizing set for Colors

Following the release of his new album, Djourou, a few months ago, the kora ambassador shines a spotlight on Malian music at the famous Berlin studio.

Ballaké Sissoko is one of Mali’s most famous artists. His performance for Colors Show sees him highlight the sweetness of his favorite instrument, the kora.

For his latest album, Djourou, released last April, he brought together several artists, such as the French-Malian rapper, Oxmo Puccino, his British and Gambian niece, Sona Jobarteh, and the Frenchman Vincent Ségal. On the album’s title, he explained: “Djourou (the rope) is a metaphor for the union of those I have brought together so that we are bound by the same rope to achieve something that shows the right path for everyone, that we are united by a beautiful spirit, to fulfill the exhortation of those who gave us life.

Pre-order Djourou via No Format.
