Guy One blends funk and kologo on So La Ma La

The Ghanaian artist is a lover of the traditional rhythms of his native country and here unveils a cut from his latest album, So La Ma La, on which he is accompanied by his new group as well as Florence Adooni and Tenni Akagam.

Guy One, the master of kologo from northern Ghana, is back on the scene with his new band, made up of young talents from Kumasi, as well as Florence Adooni and Tenni Akagam providing backing vocals.

So La Ma La explores funky highlife while drawing inspiration from Afrobeat, best exemplified on “To Kale Na’nabala,” which is out now. The track draws on traditional Kete music, embellished by Guy One’s kologo playing and soulful vocals, in a manner typical Northern Ghanaian songcraft.
