The Abidjan DJ delivers a mix to celebrate the issue of Nyamakala Beats Vol.1, the first compilation from the young label Blanc Manioc.
Asna is a DJ based in Abidjan who works mainly for the local collective La Sunday. She’s also the founder of the Sunyubok project, which brings together young emerging talents from all disciplines in West Africa. Through her set, she explores African musical roots by revisiting the jerky rhythms from Ivorian coupé-decalé, gqom, bass and kuduro and the frenzy of traditional songs. Asna is a reflection of her generation, free and uninhibited.
After garnering attecntion on the stage of Afropunk and her Boiler Room in Morocco (at the Atlas Electronic Festival), she unveils a mix accompanying the release of Nyamakala Beats Vol.1, the first compilation from Blanc Manioc. The ones who defines herself as a sound explorer will join the ‘global club’ label next spring to sign her first EP.
Nyamakala Beats Vol.1, out on November 22nd via Blanc Manioc.
