British Nigerian artist Raysmuzik releases a new single and music video celebrating youth after an alarming run in with COVID.
RaysMuzik is an up and coming British Nigerian artist and musician that has been garnering respect with a small but poignant catalog of music. The artist turned heads most recently with his single BaddaMan, released September 15th and is back with a cut and a clip of his new track “Young”.
The track extols the joy of being “young, rich, black” and having an entourage to celebrate with. The smooth production that laces the sound was given the treatment by Grammy nominated producer Mr Kleb, whose previous collaborators include Burna Boy. RaysMuzik gives a shout out to “Lagos City where I come from” and a nod to recent protests, “We see the news no more ducking from the 5-0” which embody the spirit of a youth in his time.
The visuals were directed by Charlie Rees and Edd Roberts of Fuego Films, who have worked with Sinead Harnett, Maisie Williams, Fekky, M.O, Jevon, Kida Kudz, among others, and captures a day in the life of the Anglo-Nigerian youth in London.
“Young” hits home in a new way for RaysMuzik as he was only recently discharged from the hospital after contracting COVID over the summer where he had to be rushed to A&E for treatment. The release is a new call for celebration and gratitude for being young, carefree, and in good health.
