Penya feature their favourite producers on album remix

The London-based trio has announced the Penya_Remixed EP and released the video for “False prophets,” remix by Rubén Bulnes. Experience it exclusively with PAM.

Penya” is derived from the Spanish word “Peña,” which describes a place for meetings, music and celebration. Drawn together by deep love for Cuban music, the trio delves into its musical roots, discovering just how easy they are to revisit.

They announce Penya_Remixed following the release of their self-titled second LP earlier this year: “We are proud to present this collection of remixes and reworks of Penya LP undertaken by friends and collaborators who we admire,” the band says about the EP. “The goal with our 2nd album was to explore and expand the global electronic landscape with a special focus on the music of Cuba that we love. With this project, we wanted to broaden the scope further, and we’re delighted and grateful for the open hearted, positive spirit of all the producers that agreed to flip our original tracks into their own sonic worlds.”

Discover Rubén Bulnes’ remix of “False Prophets” on PAM. The Havana based folkloric singer (and founder of the acclaimed groups El Solar Delos Seis and Osain del Monte) here enlists Dayron Rodriguez (of El Nino y la Verdad) to add percussion elements, with Pachi Naranjo producing the recording in Cuba. “The Dazzling One,” reinterpreted by Danalogue, is also available, a wonky drum machine-driven remix that escalates into a dancefloor frenzy. Other producers featured on the project include amapiano and Afro-house inspired Village Cuts, Jamz Supernova’s Future Bounce signee Lorenzo BITW and the globetrotting musician and producer El Búho.

Penya_Remixed EP by Penya, out on December 3.
