The Carioca collective carried off by producer Leo Justi joins forces with the pidgin rap guru for a new track of fiery brazilian funk.
The story of multidisciplinary collective Heavy Baile was born in the heights of Rio de Janeiro. It was launched by producer and DJ Leo Justi, rapper and dancer MC Tchelinho and a whole bunch of gifted “passinho” dancers, the twirling movements that generally accompany the baile funk. For their new single, the band – with the exception of producer Leo Justi – stepped back and invited the Nigerian rapper, Magugu, who is recognizable by his deep vocal tone. After recent collaborations with up-and-coming producers from the global beat scene such as Rolv.K, Bandicut and Le Motel, the Lagos-grown up UK-based MC once again demonstrates his all-round ease on a particularly nervous Brazilian funk beat.
In the music video, we follow young André Oliveira, a young passinho dancer from the Olaria district of Rio, who is trying, as best he can, to get to his dance class right on time. But when he is arrested for no reason and humiliated in the middle of the street by two policemen on patrol, events take a supernatural turn for the good of our hero.
