Betina Quest’s new single is a blend of musics and experiences with a story of hope
Betina Quest released “in and out” off her upcoming LP that explores a deeply personal story of a German upbringing with a Burundi heritage. Betina blends a variety of sounds to showcase the diversity of her artistry and identity, mixing lo-fi hip-hop and soul and afro inspired chants to craft a nostalgic and emotional sonic space.
Currently residing in Ghana, Betina Quest has spent the last 15 years globetrotting, living in 5 countries across 4 continents. These experiences, put on display in her previous questapes that experimented with sound and spoken word, examine black African female perspective without ignoring an individual sense of loss, love and identity.
Betina Quest’s full LP will be released November 11th with another single Privilege on its way. The LP will be accompanied by a cross-media art piece of music, poetry, and photography with a clear aim, “we have to heal to form healthier, saner societies.” Betina says, “I often wondered how I could contribute to the change I want to see. This is it.”
