Obongjayar kicks off the year with “God’s Own Children”, an intense new single from his EP Which Way Is Forward? set to release on the 7th of February.
A few weeks after his remarkable performance on Colors scene and the release of “Still Sun”, the first grandiose single from this new project, the charismatic Nigerian singer based in England once again enchanted audiences with “God’s Own Children”. Steven Umoh’s cavernous voice rises higher than usual and reveals a completely different side of the heavy jazz and afrobeat discharge of this new track.
The track follows November’s “Still Sun” which utilized an identical video aesthetic of a split screen intercut with original grade school childrens’ artwork.
“Which Way Is Forward? is a project about love, family, self-empowerment and self-belief,” Obongjayar shared via his official press statement. “It’s a mirror that allows you to look inward, to understand trauma, to heal. It’s a project about mustering the strength – the strength to get up and clean house.”
