Sarkodie and Oxlade join for the romantic “Non Living Thing”

The Ghanaian rapper and the Nigerian singer unveil the video for this bittersweet love song, taken from Sarkodie’s highly successful album No Pressure

Sarkodie is one of Ghana (and probably Africa)’s most celebrated rappers. With a 15 year career and two BET Award wins this versatile artist is capable of dropping the hardest rap track as well as the sweetest Afrobeats and Afropop songs. This was the case with “Non Living Thing”, a track featuring Nigeria’s golden voice Oxlade taken from his latest album No Pressure. A true love jam, the song sees Sarkodie address his conflicted feelings about his relationship, as Oxlade delivers a bittersweet melodic chorus.

“Non Living Thing” exemplifies well the direction taken on No Pressure. The album’s title referred to Sarkodie’s confidence in his craft, capable of bringing rap to any other musical dimension. “Some people sell out who they are to try and be accepted in different places,” he had said about the project. “I know who I am and what my sound is, and that’s something I try not to lose because my authenticity is my power.”

With 16 tracks ranging from classic hip-hop introspection (“Rollies and Cigars”) to heavy trap (“Married To The Game”) and groovy Afrobeats (“No Fugazy”), No Pressure features an international roster of heavyweight artists including Vic Mensa (US), Giggs (UK), Wale (US/Nigeria), Cassper Nyovest (South Africa), Oxlade (Nigeria) and Harmonize (Tanzania) as well as Ghana’s own Kwesi Arthur, DarkoVibes and Medikal. The lineup of producers include Ghana’s MOG, Altranova, KaySo and Kaywa, along with Nigerian beatmakers Rexxie and Coublon and UK-based Certified Bangerz.

No Pressure by Sarkodie, still available on all platforms.
