‘Fadjamou’ by Oumou Sangaré is the third single from her Mogoya album, released via No Format.
Following a sold-out Village Underground headline earlier this year and an outstanding set at Glastonbury that was named ‘one of the 9 moments that made Sunday killer’ by the BBC, the new video arrives just ahead of Oumou’s festival appearcances at WOMAD and Shambala. Shot by Fansé Sanogo – a fellow Malian from Oumou’s hometown of Bamako – the vibrant new clip reflects the references in Sangaré’s lyrics to the importance of family and identity in Malian culture, “Fadjamou” translates as ‘family name’ in English.
