Darkovibes and Davido drop cheerful video for “Je m’appelle”

The two Afrobeats singers team up on a new Ghana-Naija anthem, saluting French speaking Africa.

Darkovibes is one of the faces of alternative Ghanaian music. With his last projects Kpanlogo and The Cornerstone, the La Même Gang member has created his own signature sound, expertly fusing modern Afrobeats with highlife and hip-hop. After a few months without news, the hitmaker makes his comeback in style with “Je m’appelle,” accompanied by none less than Davido, one of the kings of contemporary Afrobeats. On this extra-joyful song, the two artists and their beatmaker MOG draw inspiration from South African gqom to deliver rapid and light-hearted verses, dabbling in French to honor their West-African compatriots.

The video sees both singers rocking Ghanaian outfits, getting in the vibe of a party and enjoying themselves in luxury cars. $pacely, co-member of La Même Gang, can also be spotted alongside his colleagues. We hope this collaboration announces a new project from ‘Cool Paul’!

Listen to “Je m’appelle” in our Songs of the Week playlist on Spotify and Deezer.
