Buju says “Sorry I'm Late” with new EP

The wait is over for Buju fans who can get their fill with a 7-track EP from one of Nigeria’s most distinct vocalists.

Though Nigeria’s falsetto songster released as many singles throughout 2021, it’s a welcome package of songwriting for fans who were missing a deeper dive into Buju’s smoothed out afrobeats. Sorry I’m Late kicks off with track “Daniel Benson”, Buju’s given name, proclaiming,

You know my riddim on fire. You know my sound is on fire. The melody is on fire, and I don’t stop, I don’t tire.”

Buju has a thing or two to brag about, coming off major collabs with WizKid on “Mood” and Ladipoe on “Feeling” whose video went No. 1 in Nigeria. Buju has also had the honor of working with African Giant Burna Boy and Zlatan who just announced his new album. This EP invites the forerunner of highlife fusion The Cavemen on “Ogechukwu” for a much appreciated collab.

Highlights on the EP include “Kilometer” produced by Rexxie, bringing in the log-drum that shook waves through the afrobeats scene on “KPK (Ko Por Ke)” with Mohbad. The Steph produced “I Do” also brings a deep R&B lick that is a perfect compliment for Buju’s poised delivery.

Overall it’s a dense and welcome project. Buju, the wait is forgiven.

Sorry I’m Late by Buju, out on all platforms.
