La Roche<\/a>\u2019s new project has the objective of painting \u201ca vivid, pineal tickling four dimensional picture of Congolese culture in 2022<\/em>\u201d. To do so, the Fulu Miziki producer immersed himself in traditional sounds and electronic music, while also using street noises from the bustling Kinshasa megalopolis (\u201cdigital watch alarms, car horns, gunshots, screams<\/em>\u201d), refashioning this mix into completely out of time tracks released via Nyege Nyege.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mach-Hommy\u2019s reinterpretation of Muhammad Ali\u2019s famous picture in a bank gives an indication of the themes adressed in Dollar Menu<\/em>. Following the critically-acclaimed Pray For Haiti<\/em> released last year, this EP sees the Haitian-American rapper rap as fiercely as ever on seven new tracks, filled with obscure references to Gerhard Schr\u00f6der, John \u201cNarwuar\u201d Ruskin and Barnum & Bailey Circus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Written by herself and featuring production from some of the country\u2019s most dynamic beatmakers (Krizbeatz, Phyl, Saszy Afroshii, Damie), the project sees her explore different musical ambiances, from the bouncy \u201cObsessed\u201d to the dreamy midtempo \u201cS.M.K\u201d. \u201cThe sounds in my head that want to come out are finally getting the chance<\/em>\u201d, she says about the EP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The band describes their music as \u201cthe sound of the world as it truly is; an unruly and unforgettable sonic explosion created by the intersection of wayward travellers<\/em>.\u201d Following the release of \u201cLe repas du cobra<\/a>\u201d, the trio now drops his debut EP via Glitterbeat Record. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his own words, the project is an \u201can expression of fulfillment, love, togetherness and prosperity amongst Igbo brothers and sisters. The series celebrates the wins of a group, community or a family in all works of life.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
