{"id":97203,"date":"2022-01-20T10:47:11","date_gmt":"2022-01-20T09:47:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/?p=97203"},"modified":"2022-01-20T10:51:33","modified_gmt":"2022-01-20T09:51:33","slug":"robert-glasper-black-superhero","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/robert-glasper-black-superhero\/","title":{"rendered":"Robert Glasper, the \u201cBlack Superhero\u201d of \u201cevery ghetto\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The American pianist and producer drops a new video with Killer Mike, BJ the Chicago Kid and Big K.R.I.T., ahead of his upcoming album <em>Black Radio III<\/em>.\u00a0<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>On February 25, ten years to the day after <em>Black Radio<\/em>, Robert Glasper&#8217;s fifth and brilliant album, the American musician will release his new project <em>Black Radio III<\/em>. Similarly to the two previous volumes, the album will celebrate &#8220;<em>joy, love and resilience of the black community<\/em>&#8221; in America, wrapped in his usual and clever mix of jazz, soul and hip-hop. Album previews include the singles \u201cBetter Than I Imagined\u201d with H.E.R. and Meshell Ndegeocello, \u201cShine\u201d with D Smoke and Tiffany Gouch\u00e9 and most recently \u201cBlack Superhero\u201d, featuring rappers and vocalists Killer Mike, BJ the Chicago Kid and Big K.R.I.T.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The video for &#8220;Black Superhero&#8221; includes scenes shot in Los Angeles, highlighting the everyday heroes of predominantly African-American neighborhoods. To introduce the visual, a quote from writer and journalist Ta-Nehisi Coates was chosen: &#8220;<em>Black people love their children with a kind of obsession. You are all we have, and you come to us in danger<\/em>\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Originally from Houston, Texas, Robert Glasper was inspired by his mother, a pianist and gospel singer, to pursue a musical career. After attending Houston&#8217;s High School for the Performing Arts and Manhattan&#8217;s New School University, he released his debut album <em>Mood <\/em>in 2004, followed by <em>Canvas <\/em>and <em>In My Element<\/em> on the prestigious <a href=\"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/tag\/blue-note\/?_per_page=17\">Blue Note Records<\/a> label. He has also collaborated with artists such as Herbie Hancock, <a href=\"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/tag\/kaytranada\/?_per_page=35\">Kaytranada<\/a> and the late J Dilla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/found.ee\/RG_BlackRadioIII\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Black Radio III<\/em><\/a> by Robert Glasper, out on February 25.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div
