{"id":96004,"date":"2022-01-06T10:09:58","date_gmt":"2022-01-06T09:09:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/?p=96004"},"modified":"2022-01-06T10:10:03","modified_gmt":"2022-01-06T09:10:03","slug":"lucia-de-carvalho-pwanga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/lucia-de-carvalho-pwanga\/","title":{"rendered":"L\u00facia de Carvalho announces new album Pwanga"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The singer is set to unveil a new project, once again exploring her French, Angolan, Portuguese and Brazilian heritage.&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;<em>In the Tchokw\u00e9 language, when you want to make people smile for a photo, you ask them the question &#8216;Pwanga ni puy?&#8217;, &#8216;Light or dark?&#8217;<\/em>&#8220;, singer L\u00facia de Carvalho explained on her social networks about her upcoming album. &#8220;<em>And those photographed happily respond with &#8216;Pwangaaaa!&#8217; to show their best smile! When a friend told me this story, I knew right away that this was the name of our new album &#8211; &#8216;light&#8217;<\/em>\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This new album, which includes notable artists such as Brazilian singers Chico C\u00e9sar and Anna Tr\u00e9a and Angolan musicians Galiano Neto and Betinho Feijo, looks beyond the Franco-Lusophone sphere to which L\u00facia is accustomed, introducing elements of gospel and oriental music. However, the basis remains Brazil, Portugal, France and Angola, where the singer has also shot &#8220;Phowo&#8221; alongside women farmers. The song \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=daXzeqlqgw4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Somahaka<\/a>\u201d is out now.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u00facia de Carvalho was born in Angola, but grew up and matured in France. Her mother tongue and her sense of rhythm quickly led her to Brazilian music. In 2008, after ten years with the group Som Brasil, she decided to embark on a solo career. <em><a href=\"https:\/\/macase.lnk.to\/kuzola\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kuzola<\/a><\/em>, her album released in 2016, was the subject of a documentary in which the singer embarked on a long journey, both musical and initiatory, between Brazil and Angola.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/modulor.lnk.to\/Pwanga\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pwanga<\/a> <\/em>by L\u00facia de Carvalho, out on January 14.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"L\u00facia de Carvalho - Phowo (Official Music Video)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tFAe2913Ztw?feature=oembed&#038;autoplay=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
