{"id":92035,"date":"2021-11-09T13:21:36","date_gmt":"2021-11-09T11:21:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/?p=92035"},"modified":"2021-11-09T13:29:38","modified_gmt":"2021-11-09T11:29:38","slug":"juliankxx-in-praise-of-still-boys","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/juliankxx-in-praise-of-still-boys\/","title":{"rendered":"Sierra Leonean native Juliankxx releases soundtrack to In Praise of Still Boys on vinyl"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Poet, musician and film director Juliankxx returns to his childhood home for a blue tinted exploration of Freetown.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><em>In Praise of Still Boys<\/em> the film, released in February 2021, is a re-examination of Juliankxx\u2019s childhood, growing up on the Atlantic Coast of Sierra Leone before leaving the country at 9 years old during the country\u2019s civil war.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The images are contemplative and stark, capturing the vitality and rhythm of the young boy\u2019s life along the water.&nbsp;Juliankxx describes it &#8220;<em>as sort of self-reflection, within this sort of landscape of &#8216;blue&#8217; within the landscape of the Atlantic Ocean that connects Sierra Leone to England and America &#8211; like we all share the same Atlantic Ocean &#8211; it just made sense<\/em><strong>&#8220;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The soundtrack, now available on vinyl, includes original compositions as well as collaborations from artists Melo-Zed, Aron Kyne, Thabo and anaiis.
