Koffee, Fatoumata Diawara, Mayra Andrade, Barrington Levy, and Fela Kuti all step in to redefine the score of the American Western and the forgotten black cowboy on Netflix\u2019s The Harder They Fall<\/em>. <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Netflix\u2019s original The Harder They Fall <\/em>is an attempt to correct the historical memory of the old West. Despite the dominantly white portrayal of cowboys in Western film, academic Katie Nodjimbadem estimates that almost one in four cowboys were black. This gives context to Neflix\u2019s choice of opening words, \u201cThese. People. Existed<\/em>.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A classic Western motif of a man seeking revenge, The Harder They Fall<\/em>, stand out more for its choice of all-star black actors including Idris Elba, Regina King, Delroy Lindo, among others, and unique take on the Western soundtrack. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The original soundtrack features a pan-African cast among them grammy winning Koffee<\/a> providing the titular track, a remix of reggae legend Barrington Levy\u2019s \u201cBetter Than Gold\u201d, Malian singer and guitarist Fatoumata Diawara<\/a>\u2019s \u201cBlack Woman\u201d in collaboration with Ms. Lauryn Hill, as well as tracks from South African singer Pretty Yende, Cape Verdean native Mayra Andrade<\/a>, and Nigerian Brazilian soul vocalist Seal. Fela Kuti<\/a>\u2019s classic \u201cLet\u2019s Start\u201d is also featured on the film\u2019s official trailer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
