The Ugandan label has announced Bubbling Inside<\/em>, a testament to the evolution of the Dutch genre from one of its most visionary producers.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Bubbling Inside,<\/em> from Nyege Nyege<\/a>, is the debut album from producer De Schuurman, on which he revisits bubbling, a genre that originated at Club Voltage in The Hague in the late 1980s and has since become central to the African diasporas in the Netherlands. The story goes that the genre, also known as bubbling house, ignited when Curacao DJ accidentally played a dancehall vinyl at 45 rpm instead of 33. With a taste for fast, energetic music, the public instantly fell in love with this bold new sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De Schuurman is in the business of making dancehall more gritty and fast and incorporates trap, dubstep and techno in his soundscapes. Bubbling Inside<\/em> gathers tracks that symbolize the artist\u2019s origins in the late 2000s, as well as more recent releases. “Nu Ga Je Dansen,” the first cut from the album, is accompanied by a video that features the Cameroonian dancer Audrey Fotso in a wild street performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, the label is launching its first white label vinyls via its sub-label Hakuna Kulala<\/a>. Two releases will kick things off: Menzi, with his first solo gqom project Impazamo<\/em>, and Elembo, <\/em>an EP by the Congolese artist Oyisse, mixing club rhythms, trap, gqom and Central African sounds. Both projects will be released on August 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
