Artists from the Portuguese-speaking world continue to make their mark on the Colors platform. After Mayra Andrade<\/a>, Dino D’Santiago and the young Nenny a few weeks ago, it is now the turn of Carla Prata to step onto the stage of the famous studio. The 20-year-old London-born singer, who grew up between the English capital, Benguela in Angola, and Lisbon, where she now lives, has released a new single just in time for Valentine’s Day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCertified Freak\u201d is an ode to female empowerment and sensuality. It is carried by production that combines the best of RnB and trap. Although Carla is a pure RnB artist, whose vocal timbre could be compared to the restrained and stylish Syd of the Californian band The Internet, this new track marks a turning point in her young career. She abandons the afrobeats and baile funk inspirations that permeated her latest EP, Roots<\/em>, which we discovered back in the spring of 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In an interview for the Portuguese media Rimas e Batidas<\/em> in 2018, Carla Prata announced: \u201cTo be honest, my goal is neither Angola nor Portugal, but really to be recognized internationally.\u201d Already aware of her talent and mature enough to keep perspective,\u00a0her ambition might have seemed excessive at the dawn of her 18th birthday.
