{"id":71481,"date":"2021-02-10T10:25:48","date_gmt":"2021-02-10T09:25:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/?p=71481"},"modified":"2021-02-10T10:26:11","modified_gmt":"2021-02-10T09:26:11","slug":"cherry-family","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/cherry-family\/","title":{"rendered":"The famous Cherry family returns on reissues"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Blank Records releases two Don Cherry vinyls that were presumed lost as well as a book and exhibition dedicated to the work of Don and Moki Cherry. <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Two treasures have recently been discovered in the Swedish Jazz Archive: <em>The Summer House Sessions<\/em> by Don Cherry, which was recorded as part of jam sessions during the Swedish summer of 68\u2019 and&nbsp; <em>Organic Music Theatre: Ch\u00e2teauvallon Jazz Festival<\/em>, a project led by Don and Moki.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div><div><iframe style=\"border: 0; width: 100%; height: 120px;\" src=\"https:\/\/bandcamp.com\/EmbeddedPlayer\/album=1482469441\/size=large\/bgcol=ffffff\/linkcol=0687f5\/tracklist=false\/artwork=small\/track=3978826955\/transparent=true\/\" seamless loading=\"lazy\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blankformseditions.bandcamp.com\/album\/organic-music-theatre-festival-de-jazz-de-chateauvallon-1972\">Organic Music Theatre: Festival de jazz de Chateauvallon 1972 by Don Cherry&#39;s New Researches featuring Nan\u00e1 Vasconcelos<\/a><\/iframe><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>For this latter project, the family was accompanied on stage by a puppet troupe and members of the public in a landscape adorned by Moki Cherry\u2019s hand-made tapestries. The Blank Forms label offers the opportunity to learn more about this singular family by publishing a book dedicated to their family life as well as to their artistic practices. We find unpublished interviews with Don Cherry, as well as tributes from his daughter and granddaughter.
