The composer unveils his new title “Afro Bolero”. A cover of one of the most popular anthems of classical music in an Afropop version.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Former French music programmer and radio host Philippe Cohen Solal, founder of the Gotan Project, continues his series of musical collaborations after his singles with Chassol, Los Calchakis and Horace Andy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A revival of Maurice Ravel’s landmark work, accompanied by a text in English and a chorus sung in Mina, the regional oral language in Togo and Benin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This revisited version is marked by an exchange between several voices of African artists, with the Congolese Flame on guitar, the Cameroonian Hilaire Penda on bass, the Beninese Ang\u00e9lique Kidjo on vocals and the South African producer, DJ and singer Mo Laudi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Afro Bolero” is described as “the cover version of the most popular anthem of classical music in an Afropop version”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the official release scheduled for June 11, the song will be remixed in London by Pot\u00e9, in Berlin by Daniel Haaksman and in Johannesburg by the Batuk, a group formed by African electro godfather Spoek Mathambo, kwaito maestro Aero Manyelo and Mozambican singer Manteiga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
