{"id":51371,"date":"2020-05-25T17:53:33","date_gmt":"2020-05-25T16:53:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/?p=51371"},"modified":"2021-02-11T12:07:07","modified_gmt":"2021-02-11T11:07:07","slug":"idris-ackamoor-and-the-pyramids-album-shaman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/idris-ackamoor-and-the-pyramids-album-shaman\/","title":{"rendered":"Idris Ackamoor and The Pyramids announce new album Shaman"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Check out the first extract &#8220;Theme For Cecil&#8221;, a tribute to Cecil Taylor.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Created in 1973, the iconic afro-jazz band, Ackamoor and The Pyramids, are back on the scene after their last album <em>An Angel Fell<\/em> released in 2018. &#8220;<em>The album unfolds over four acts with personal musical statements about love and loss, mortality, the afterlife, family and salvation<\/em>&#8220;. &#8220;<em>I wanted to use this album to touch on some of the issues we all face as individuals in the inner space of our souls and our conscience<\/em>&#8221; Ackamoor explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div><iframe style=\"border: 0; width: 100%; height: 120px;\" src=\"https:\/\/bandcamp.com\/EmbeddedPlayer\/album=3175501341\/size=large\/bgcol=ffffff\/linkcol=0687f5\/tracklist=false\/artwork=small\/transparent=true\/\" seamless loading=\"lazy\"><a href=\"http:\/\/idrisackamoor.bandcamp.com\/album\/shaman\">Shaman! by Idris Ackamoor &amp; The Pyramids<\/a><\/iframe><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>For this new opus, the band consisted of Dr Margaux Simmons on flute, Bobby Cobb on guitar, Sandra Poindexter on violin, Ruben Ramos on bass, Gioele Pagliaccia on drums and Jack Yglesias on percussion. <em>Shaman<\/em> is more introspective than the previous albums.
