Bargou is a forgotten place lying between\u00a0the mountains of northwest Tunisia and the Algerian border. The valley and the isolated village has developed its own culture that had\u00a0never been documented until Nidhal Yahyaoui<\/strong> began the task. Born in the valley, the singer grew up\u00a0hearing his parents and family sing the songs that belong to the region, and he was determined that the music and traditions shouldn\u2019t slip away into obscurity.<\/p>\n

Nidhal decided to persist these traditions through modern music,\u00a0combining funky Moog synthesizer and modern drum machines with traditional\u00a0gasba<\/em>\u00a0reed, zokra<\/em>\u00a0pipe, and bendir\u00a0<\/em>string instruments. In the words of\u00a0Sofyan Ben Youssef<\/strong> (synthesizer, musical director) for Bandcamp Daily<\/a>, \u201cWorld music is changing […]\u00a0In the information era, the boundaries between countries and cultures are disappearing, so this old \u2018world music\u2019 concept is also disappearing slowly\u201d.<\/p>\n

The album already received an international critical succes :<\/p>\n
