Soul Jazz Records puts the light on the beginning of Dancehall with new compilation\u00a0Studio One Supreme: Maximum 70s and 80s Early Dancehall Sounds.<\/em><\/h3>\n

By the 1970s Studio One and Clement \u2018Sir Coxsone\u2019 Dodd had already proved himself to be the defining force in Reggae for almost two decades. With his record label Studio One, Coxsone\u00a0established the careers of most of Jamaica\u2019s artists: everyone from Bob Marley and The Wailers, Ken Boothe, Toots and The Maytals, The Skatalites, Jackie Mittoo and more. The label went through every Reggae-related styles, from Rocksteady to Ragga, by way of Dub. At the end of the 70’s, Studio One get into the new defining sound\u00a0of the island’s Sound Systems: Dancehall.<\/p>\n

Soul Jazz Records revives the exciting beginning of this genre with this new collection of classic and rare Studio One recordings (Alton Ellis, Jackie Mittoo, H<\/span>orace Andy, Freddy Mc Gregor,\u00a0Dillinger, Lone Ranger,\u00a0 Sugar Minott, Prince Jazzbo, Jim Nastic, Johnny Osbourne…).<\/p>\n
