I mean it&#8217;s very much an evolution of my sound but you can probably hear it distinctively as MY sound.\u00a0I embrace all my influences and then filter them through a particular set of sonic moods. Genre categories won&#8217;t really work as a description.\u00a0I can say that it sits in this emotional range that I&#8217;ve been calling &#8220;never-ending dawn&#8221;. People keep telling me\u00a0it&#8217;s melancholic but it&#8217;s also somewhat uplifting and I say well that&#8217;s how I feel almost every day, it&#8217;s very Gemini. It&#8217;s saturnine but it&#8217;s still\u00a0feels really calming. It is very African. I think its pop and Afro in an abstract way. It requires close listening and I think we&#8217;ve achieved something very layered and potent with it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kae Sun is the musical project of Kwaku Darko-Mensah Jnr, a\u00a0Ghanian-Canadian\u00a0singer with influences steeped in afrobeat, contemporary R&amp;B, and indie folk. Kae\u2019s break out came in 2013 with the release of his critically-acclaimed sophomore album <em>Afriyie<\/em>.
