The first record is Kamal Keila&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Muslims And Christians.\u00a0<\/em>When label&#8217;s boss Jannis St\u00fcrtz start to prepare his trip and\u00a0learn about the musical scene of the nation\u2019s capital in the 1970s, Kamal Keila was a name that came up here and there, coined the James Brown or Fela Kuti of Sudan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe style=\"border: 0; width: 100%; height: 42px;\" src=\"https:\/\/bandcamp.com\/EmbeddedPlayer\/album=2526125338\/size=small\/bgcol=ffffff\/linkcol=0687f5\/track=3698007299\/transparent=true\/\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" seamless=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"><a href=\"http:\/\/habibifunkrecords.bandcamp.com\/album\/habibi-funk-008-muslims-and-christians\">Habibi Funk 008: Muslims and Christians by Kamal Keila<\/a><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><em>&#8220;We spent an afternoon in Kamal\u2019s living room somewhere in the dusty outskirts of Khartoum. His small house, where he lives with his sons and their families, is located on a little side street. In the tiny garden area he has a number of empty pigeon cages, a <\/em><em>testament of one of his hobbies he actively followed until some years ago. He did however record sessions for Sudanese radio. In Sudan the radio stations were not allowed to play the recordings produced by music labels on air, therefore they had their own studios and invited musicians to record music for their program. In most cases the musicians would not receive a copy of the recordings out of fear that they would release the music themselves.
