Unveiling their music video for\u00a0&#8216;He Eh Lalla&#8217;.<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">European Post-Punk musicians Gianna Greco and Fran\u00e7ois R. Cambuzat originated this project, travelling through the desert in Tunisia to investigate\u00a0and confront the religious ritual of the Banga, a ritual of legendary intensity indigenous to the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Their original intention was not to join in the ritual but rather to research how this unique ceremony delivered \u201cpure elevation\u201d to its participants. After sometime living in the desert, three members of the Banga community \u2013 Tarek Sultan, Yahia Chouchen and Youssef Ghazala \u2013 joined forces with Gianna and Francois to create\u00a0Ifriqiyya Electrique.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Ifriqiyya\u2019s music was never composed for a Western audience in the first place, rather it is a contemporary and unexpected hybridation, that the band calls a \u201cpost-industrial ritual\u201d. &#8220;Laylet el Booree&#8221; translates as the \u201cNight of the Madness\u201d and refers to the last part of the annual gathering of the ritual from the Banga of Tozeur, the night when the spirits actually take possession of the bodies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">This music video embodies quite well the blend of Banga ritualism and Noise Rock sounds, showing videos of the ritual in a punk-ish DIY aesthetic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Revisit <a style=\"color: #333333;\" href=\"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/ifriqiyya-electrique-ruwahine\/\">our review<\/a> of their previous album.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><em>Laylet el Booree\u00a0<\/em>will be out on April 5th on\u00a0Glitterbeat Records.
