Led by trombonist Denniston Young, they blended electronic sounds with local popular music.<\/p>\n<p>They released on and were the house band of Brooklyn-based label Strakers, one of the largest\u00a0 Caribbean music labels. Between the 1970&#8217;s and the 2000&#8217;s, Strakers released hundreds of calypso and soca records.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/bandcamp.com\/EmbeddedPlayer\/album=3562114050\/size=large\/bgcol=ffffff\/linkcol=0687f5\/tracklist=false\/artwork=small\/transparent=true\/\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" seamless=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"><a href=\"http:\/\/soundwayrecords.bandcamp.com\/album\/sweetest-taboo-soca\">Sweetest Taboo (Soca) by Rebles<\/a><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Among these records, was the Rebles&#8217; cover of the 1985 British hit, &#8220;Sweetest Taboo&#8221; by Sade. This peculiar reinterpretation became popular among contemporary DJs, the prices of the few copies rising consequently.
