{"id":41587,"date":"2019-07-11T18:48:13","date_gmt":"2019-07-11T17:48:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/sampa-the-great-announces-debut-album-and-drops-omg-music-video\/"},"modified":"2021-11-23T13:12:04","modified_gmt":"2021-11-23T11:12:04","slug":"sampa-the-great-announces-debut-album-and-drops-omg-music-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/sampa-the-great-announces-debut-album-and-drops-omg-music-video\/","title":{"rendered":"Sampa the Great announces debut album and drops \u2018OMG\u2019 music video"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 class=\"pam-featured-content\"><em class=\"pam-featured-content\"><iframe class=\"pam-featured-content\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XdF2wXc3LuM\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/iframe><\/em><\/h4>\n<h4><em>The Return<\/em>&nbsp;will be out on Ninja Tune on September 13th and will feature the formerly released singles &#8220;OMG&#8221; and &#8220;Final Form&#8221;.<\/h4>\n<p>Following her&nbsp;2017 mixtape&nbsp;<em>Birds and the BEE9, <\/em>that earned her an&nbsp;Australian Music Prize,&nbsp;the Zambia-born, Sydney-based artist <span style=\"color: #333333;\"><a style=\"color: #333333;\" href=\"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/tag\/sampa-the-great\/\">Sampa the Great<\/a><\/span> announces her debut album.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Return<\/em>, to be released on renowned record label&nbsp;<span style=\"color: #333333;\"><a style=\"color: #333333;\" href=\"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/tag\/ninja-tune\/\">Ninja Tune<\/a><\/span>,&nbsp;will feature collaborations with the such of Jonwayne, Ecca Vandal,&nbsp;London jazz collective Steam Down, MsM, Andrei Eremin, Silentjay, Kwes Darko, Clever Austin, Blue Lab Beats, and Syreniscreamy.<\/p>\n<p>To announce the release, she just unveiled the music video of the second single taken from the forthcoming album, &#8220;OMG&#8221;. In this new gem, she raps about celebrating her origins on an uptempo, bass music-inspired instrumental.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI personally feel that people on the continent have a duty to our family in the diaspora, to re-teach our culture, language, spirituality, ways and return our peeps to ourselves. To me &#8220;OMG sounds like the songs we heard in our childhood. It\u2019s broadly about flexing your culture!
