Samthing Soweto<\/strong><\/h5>\n

In the past few years, Samthing Soweto’s visibility grew beyond live music enthusiasts to the whole country when he started collaborating with house producers such as\u00a0Sun El Musician,\u00a0Black Coffee, DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small and\u00a0Mobi Dixon\u00a0<\/strong>for massive December hits. Called\u00a0Isphithiphithi<\/em>, his first album consists of 13 tracks, with DJ Maphorisa, Kabza de Small, Mlindo The Vocalist and MFR Souls for the main features. It looks like the album is a major\u00a0milestone for Samthing Soweto\u2019s career and solidifies his name in the music industry.<\/p>\n

Tales Of America<\/em><\/strong><\/h5>\n
J.S Ondara<\/h5>\n

J.S. Ondara offers a unique take on the American dream on Tales of America, his debut album. Ondara grew up in Nairobi, Kenya, listening to American alt-rock and making up his own songs for as long as he can remember.\u00a0From a stockpile he says is hundreds of songs deep, Ondara chose 11 for Tales of America.\u00a0The entirely acoustic\u00a0Tales Of America<\/em>\u00a0was produced by the Grammy-nominated Mike Viola, also known for his work with Jenny Lewis. It\u00a0includes an appearance by Californian artist Madison Cunningham and a cover of Neil Young\u2019s \u2018Heart of Gold\u2019.<\/p>\n

Je suis Africain<\/strong><\/em><\/h5>\n
Rachid Taha<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Rachid Taha died at age 59 from a heart attack on the night of September 11-12, 2018, as he was putting the finishing touches on this album.\u00a0Je suis Africain\u00a0<\/em>is the\u00a0posthumous album from the legendary Algerian singer\u00a0Rachid Taha, its highlights for the last time the\u00a0king of “rock-cha\u00e2bi”\u00a0diving deep into his roots as usual. With boundless energy, he wrote the ten songs of the album\u00a0with Toma Feterman for his eleventh solo album.<\/p>\n

Gyedu Blay Ambolley\u00a0<\/strong>&\u00a0<\/strong>Zantoda Mark III<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n

Originally released in 1980,\u00a0Control<\/em>\u00a0is an extremely hard-to-find Ghanaian LP from legendary musician Gyedu-Blay Ambolley. Made of tough highlife, funk and boogie moods,\u00a0Control<\/em>\u00a0is a treasure of Ghanaian culture. Nowadays, Ambolley is still actively touring, keeping these vibes alive. This is the third Gyedu Blay Ambolley LP that\u00a0is reissued on Mr Bongo, following on from his seminal \u2018Ambolley\u2019 and \u2018Simigwa\u2019 recordings.<\/p>\n

La Grande Cantatrice Malienne Vol.1<\/strong><\/em><\/h5>\n
Nahawa Doumbia<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Recorded when she was barely 20 years old,\u00a0La Grande Cantatrice Malienne Vol. 1<\/em>\u00a0looks back to the beginning of Doumbia\u2019s long career when her voice was remarkably strong yet still developing.\u00a0Accompanied by her future husband N\u2019Gou Bagayoko on acoustic guitar, whose style echoes the nimble runs of traditional kamele n\u2019goni players. The stark simplicity of this highly intimate recording\u2014the audible room acoustics, the occasionally in-the-red vocals\u2014do not obscure the mature strength of her voice.<\/p>\n

Guts<\/h5>\n

Taken from\u00a0Philantropiques<\/em>, released on March 29th on\u00a0Heavenly Sweetness<\/a>, Kenke Corner EP <\/em>is a collection of few tracks remixed by guests like Canadian producer Poirier,\u00a0Mozambique-native singer Samito or afro-disco french band Voilaaa.\u00a0A dancefloor-oriented\u00a0EP that embodies quite well Guts’ approach of blending influences.<\/span><\/p>\n
