The West African countries are perhaps two of the most cooperative nations in the continent, sharing many cultural artifacts that has led to often, comical competition. From Jollof rice to roads even, Nigerians and Ghana go at it every single chance they get, bantering themselves for all its worth.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When it comes to music however, all these are sheathed in place for sonic excellence. Whereas the artistes might even find themselves arguing in favor of their nation, when they step into the studio or just hang around each other doing other music-related stuff, it is almost always an event.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Historically, there are some Ghanaian influences in Nigerian music, and vice versa. Highlife is famously a Ghana-centric medium of musical expression. High-life had evolved as a Ghanaian response to the forced introduction of Western classical music to Ghanaian colonial school curriculums and the suppression of traditional Ghanaian music.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Nigerian Bobby Benson was famously \u201cput on\u201d to Highlife music by E. T. Mensah while they toured (separately) the United Kingdom in the fifties. Many years on, Ghanaians and Nigerians continue to collaborate, even more so with globalization. An artiste like Sarkodie has collaborated with virtually all the Nigerian artistes there is. The Tema-born rapper passes off as the face of contemporary collaboration between the two countries. (His absence in this list is therefore intentional.)&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here, we present five of the finest songs artistes from Ghana and Nigeria have made for our ever-grateful ears.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #fd7065;\"><b>R2Bees&nbsp; \u2013 Slow Down (feat. WizKid) (2013)&nbsp;<\/b><\/span><\/h6>\n<p><iframe title=\"R2bees - Slow Down (Feat. Wizkid) (Official Music Video)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TEj2WDg2mtU?feature=oembed&#038;autoplay=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Made up of the duo of Faisal Hakeem (Omar Sterling) and Rashid Mugeez (Mugeez), R2Bees are a Hiplife\/ Hip Hop duo from the Ghanaian city of Tema.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Their first collaboration with Nigeria\u2019s very own Starboy came in 2013, on \u201cSlow Down\u201d, a single off their sophomore album&nbsp;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Refuse to Be Broke.&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This song will go on to be the first link of a fruitful business partnership that, years later, will see them, alongside compatriot Efya, become Starboy Entertainment affiliates.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cSlow Down\u201d is an evergreen Afro Pop song which moves at a gentle pace, playing to the vocal power of the trio of artistes.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<hr>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #fd7065;\"><b>2Face \u2013 My Love (feat. VIP) (2006)&nbsp;<\/b><\/span><\/h6>\n<p><iframe title=\"My Love by 2FACE &amp; VIP\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1G6vwwQVG-c?feature=oembed&#038;autoplay=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Legendary Nigerian artiste 2face, in 2006, (now 2Baba) tapped the Ghanaian Hiplife group, VIP, for a love song. Inspired by old Jamaican folk song, it was however popularized by Harry Belafonte\u2019s \u201cJamaican Farewell\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2face\u2019s effort, which was a major crossover hit in its day, featured in his classic&nbsp;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grass 2 Grace&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">album. A playful number, the song features an Afro-Carribean vibe which perfectly fits beside the love-professing lyrics.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><span style=\"color: #fd7065;\"><b>BOJ \u2013 Awolowo (feat. Kwesi Arthur, Darkovibes &amp; Joey B) (2019)<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"BOJ - Awolowo (Official video) ft. Kwesi Arthur, Darko Vibes, Joey B\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/07ou4rZeES4?feature=oembed&#038;autoplay=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018Awolowo\u2019 is a mid-tempo song which features lewd storytelling and generally, the depiction of a feel-good lifestyle, peculiar to today\u2019s youth. The featured artistes take turns in delivering well-laced verses and BOJ assumes hook duties. On the hook, he sings in his unique voice about stacking cash even as he smokes. Of course, this is delivered in Yoruba.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The GMK beat is ingenious in the laid back mood it sets; there is the Spanish guitar, and the kick drums \u2013 it is a really good production.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As BOJ is one of the Alt\u00e9 movement pioneers, his influence is quite admirable and on this song, he does score the support of some friends: Zamir provides additional vocals while the beautiful guitar sounds were strung from the fingers of Tomi Thomas.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><span style=\"color: #fd7065;\"><b>Tony Tetuila \u2013 2 Women (feat. VIP) (2006)<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Tony Tetuila Feat. Tuface - My kind of woman\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tvvu4Dg0eUQ?feature=oembed&#038;autoplay=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A playful song, \u201c2 Women\u201d is off the former Remedies\u2019 man Tony Tetuila\u2019s 2006 album, Free Soldier.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The song details Tony\u2019s indecision when it comes to women and for the trio of VIP guests, rather than aiding a friend to choose, they infuse their playful elements of Hiplife, making the song a loose declaration which shoots at nothing in particular, but fun.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><span style=\"color: #fd7065;\"><b>R2Bees \u2013 Kiss Your Hand (feat. Wande Coal) (2009)<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"R2BEES - Kiss Your Hand (Feat.
