Aziza Brahim<\/b><\/h5>\n

The Saharawi singer-songwriter and activist Aziza Brahim<\/a><\/span> returns with her fifth album on Glitterbeat Records following the critically acclaimed,\u00a0Abbar El Hammad<\/em>, released in 2016.\u00a0Politics remains intensely personal for Brahim. She lives in Spain, in exile, and the music for\u00a0Sahari<\/em>\u00a0was written there. While her songs remain grounded in her homeland, her gaze is increasingly global. To achieve that, Brahim worked with acclaimed Spanish artist Amparo S\u00e1nchez of Amparanoia on the album\u2019s pre-production, and the collaboration has made a transformative impact on the music.<\/p>\n

Originally from\u00a0Burkina Faso<\/a><\/span>,\u00a0Art Melody<\/a><\/span>\u00a0is a unique rapper in his genre. He draws as much inspiration from his mother\u2019s griotic incantations, as from the 1970\u2019s afro-soul or even from the best New-York rap (Busta Rhymes, Mobb Deep, Wu-Tang Clan).\u00a0Zoodo<\/em>\u00a0(which can be translated as \u2018friendship\u2019, \u2018One hand-stretched to the other\u2019)\u00a0is\u00a0a tribute\u00a0to the golden hip hop era. The album is fully produced\u00a0by French beatmaker\u00a0Redrum<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Erick Cosaque<\/b><\/h5>\n

The Parisian label Heavenly Sweetness focuses on the career of Guadeloupean singer Erick Cosaque with\u00a0Chinal Ka<\/em>, a compilation of Cosaque best work between 1973 and 1995.\u00a0Erick Cosaque is a major figure in gwo ka, he managed to avoid being part of any institutional system \u2013 no label, no alliance, no funding.\u00a0His voice, one of the strongest in that genre, has been significant since the early \u201970s by restoring the original spontaneous and rebellious spirit present in gwo ka with artistic creations starting in the age of vinyl and continuing in the digital era.<\/p>\n

The MAPA Group artist is rapidly finding his way and place in the Ghanaian and UK afrobeats scene. This new EP confirms it. Based between Accra and Hackney in London, Ghetto Boy is\u00a0already known as the \u201cAfrobeats Prince\u201d and his second EP,\u00a0Me VS You, <\/em>is an exciting and pivotal project for him, honoring his home continent and portraying his determination to steer the narrative by imprinting his background onto his music.<\/p>\n

This album is a legacy to his professional career debuted\u00a0 40 years ago in his native Cuba, and more beyond that, to his life.<\/p>\n

On the one hand, the original recordings made during the sessions in 1978. On the other hand, the reworks\u00a0made by\u00a0Martin Meissonnier, the legendary producer who worked with\u00a0Fela Kuti<\/a><\/span>, King Sunny Ad\u00e9 and Tony Allen among others.<\/p>\n
