Guiss Guiss Bou Bess<\/h4>\n

Created in\u00a02016, Guiss Guiss Bou Bess is a duo from Senegalese Mara Seck \u2014 son of\u00a0well-known Alla Seck who carries the legacy of Sabar \u2014 and sociologist and French beatmaker St\u00e9phane Costantini. On their first album, they delivers 12 tracks of electrosabar, between ritual\u00a0percs and other global rhythms like trap, dubstep, UK garage, drum & bass, afrobass\u00a0or kuduro.<\/p>\n

Guiss Guiss Bou Bess will perform their album at Transmusicales<\/a>\u00a0festival\u00a0in R<\/span>ennes this Friday.<\/p>\n

In the 17th century, slaves were deported from Africa, Madagascar and the pristine islands of Mauritius, R\u00e9union and Seychelles to work on coffee and sugar cane plantations.\u00a0To escape their daily woes, the slaves were singing, dancing and beating rhythms.\u00a0Afro-Malagasy-inspired sega, or (t)chega music was born.<\/p>\n

During the course of the 19th century, the Creole population\u2019s gradual adoption of Western instruments and traditional melodies of old Europe, laid the foundation for contemporary sega.\u00a0This crossroads of influences kept expanding, especially in the 50s, when the first gramophones hit the market and all sorts of records were played, from pop to jazz, soul, rock and roll, and even Cuban and Brazilian music.\u00a0For sega music, this hailed the beginning of an intense period of creativity which would linger on into the 60s and 70s. Schweiz label Bongo Joe captures for\u00a0the second time the\u00a0most precious sega treasures on this new thrilling compilation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Moonchild Sanelly<\/h4>\n

South African songwriter and dancer, Moonchild Sanelly is back with the N\u00fcdes EP. Moonchild Sanelly is the soulful voice who delivers the vibrant vocals on DJ Maphorisa\u2019s gqom single hit \u2018Makhe\u2019 which also features DJ Shimza. This year saw Moonchild Sanelly collaborated with Damon Albarn for Africa Express and Beyonc\u00e9’s Lion King: The Gift album amongst other.<\/p>\n

N\u00fcdes EP features two songs already released this year – the house inspired anthem “F-Boyz” and gqom banger “Weh Mameh.” and two new tracks “Come Correct” and “Boys and Girls”. \u00a0In an interview for Okayafrica, Sanelly explained: N\u00fcdes is a very empowering EP, and the reason I chose the title is because I’m known for being provocative, being open about sexuality, and liberating women about their vaginas and their sex life and all that jazz.<\/p>\n

1999 (Super Deluxe Edition)<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n

Prince\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Originally released on October 27, 1982, two years before the triumphant and international success of Purple Rain, 1999<\/em> is considered by many as the first masterpiece of the gargantuan discography of Prince Rogers Nelson. Just after the release of this double concept album with a futuristic atmosphere, Prince, then in the midst of creative bulimia and recording, had according to an interview given to Rolling Stone in 1985 that he recorded enough songs to offer a sequel to 1999. It is not a sequel, but a more than consistent enrichment that sees the light of day with this super deluxe edition containing about thirty new and rarities in its most complete version.<\/p>\n

iZem remixes EP\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

iZem<\/h3>\n

The second part of the series directed by Guts will be released on December 6th\u00a0 featuring the work of DJ and producer iZem. While iZem usually spends his time connecting theLusophone musics of\u00a0 South America and Africa from his home in the Portuguese capital;\u00a0he\u2019ll now be\u00a0tackling\u00a0genuine afro-funk tracks.<\/p>\n

On the A side, iZem sets\u00a0his sights on the facetious and fiery\u00a0environmentalist\u00a0track \u2018Ecolo Assiko\u2019. In a\u00a0tit for tat\u00a0heated by the band\u2019s insane afro groove, the female voices call for comfort by endlessly repeating : \u201ctoujours plus loin, toujours plus fort\u201d (always further, always stronger<\/em>) as mantra.<\/p>\n

These re-works\u00a0from the critically-acclaimed Rainford album\u00a0invite some further players into the cosmic mix.\u00a0Brian Eno makes an unexpected right channel entry into \u201cHere Come The Warm Dreads\u201d, a heavily processed sound system overhaul of Rainford highlight \u201cMakumba Rock\u201d. The album also features Wailer\u2019s legendary trombonist Vin Gordon.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Described as a dub companion to the\u00a0Rainford<\/em>\u00a0LP\u00a0Perry<\/a>\u00a0rel<\/span>eased earlier this year,\u00a0Heavy Rain<\/em>\u00a0also includes two new original songs \u2013\u00a0\u2018Dreams Come True\u2019 and \u2018Above And Beyond\u2019. The Upsetter and co-producer Adrian Sherwood radically re-version the original tapes as it\u2019s evidenced in single \u201cEnlightened\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

On their latest release,\u00a0Territoires Vol.2,\u00a0<\/em>the label\u2019s artists such as\u00a0Only Now, Prettybwoy, SNKLS, Tim Karbon and DJ and founder of POLAAR Flore,\u00a0<\/span>dedicated to push hard music from the shadows.<\/span><\/p>\n

Official first reissue of this Senegalese gem recorded in 1981 and produced by Ibrahima Sylla. At the dawn of the 1980s, Senegal was immersed in the “beautiful era” of Cuban influences, African-American soul and funk. A group of passionate musician friends want to shine in this construction of a revolution in Senegalese music. Their credo will be to claim a spiritual search, that is the meaning of the word Gest\u00fc in Wolof. The group of friends gathers around the young guitarist leader As El Haji Malick Diouf who is joined on vocals by Tidiane Bathily, reinforced by Couri Ndiaye and Abdou B\u00e2, on drums Abdou Kane, on bass guitar Jean-Pierre Gomes, Madiama Diop (saxophone, clarinet) and finally on tumbas Djiby Ndiaye.<\/p>\n

They released their first album Diabar in 1981, recorded at Golden Baobab studio under the direction of Senegalese producer Ibrahima Sylla. This unique record of the group will leave the youthful and dynamic imprint of a Senegalese musical revolution like the Orchestra Baobab or the Etoile de Dakar.<\/p>\n
