With the political situation so volatile and desperate in the Saharan ancestral lands from which Tamikrest come (for much of the last decade, the band\u2019s\u00a0founding members have lived\u00a0in Tamanrasset, Paris and at times along the desolate\u00a0Algerian\/Malian borderlands), this is more than an album. This is\u00a0resistance.\u00a0But in there, too, is the dream of the future. \u201cThe definition of the album is there in its title,\u201d explains singer, guitarist and songwriter Ousmane Ag Mossa. \u201cTamota\u00eft means hope for a\u00a0positive change.\u201d<\/p>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\">\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/puZJEspk06w\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAwnafin,\u201d the first single taken from the album,\u00a0finds the band not only turning up the volume, but also sharpening their meditative atmospherics and ruminations on\u00a0the state of the Sahara and the world beyond.\u00a0<em>&#8220;My dearest wish is to see this desired flag raised that will unite all the people of Kel tamasheq&#8221; <\/em>is currently said in the hopeful lyrics<em>. <\/em>The album features acclaimed Moroccan singer Hindi Zahra as a special guest and a track cut with Japanese traditional musicians.<\/p>\n<p><em>Tamota\u00eft,<\/em>\u00a0out on March 27th via Glitterbeat.
