After the release of the excellent\u00a0Ranil y su Conjunto Tropical<\/em> compilation, Analog Africa offers a selection of tunes that had been pre-selected for the second Ranil project.<\/h4>\n

Ra\u00fal Llerena V\u00e1squez – known worldwide as Ranil – is a singer, conductor and a great personality in his country. He was born in Iquitos – the capital of Loreto – which is located in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. And it was here, in a city completely cut off from the Peruvian coast and surrounded by impenetrable forests, that a new, typically Amazonian style of Cumbia was born in the early 1970s.<\/p>\n

Ranil\u2019s extraordinary output has remained one of the best-kept secrets among collectors of cumbia and psychedelic Latin sounds until the release of the fully-licensed compilation Ranil y su Conjunto Tropical <\/em><\/a>ass<\/span>embled by Analog Africa.
