Coming from a Swedish-Gambian family, Mansa was born in Sweden, where he founded the Diaspora collective, inviting artists such as Kenyan Jinku to join him. As its name suggests, the crew brings together artists with background in other countries and aims to share their experience as members f different diasporas in a Northern European country. Mansa translates this search for belonging into his music, causing a melancholic collision between the coldness of electronic music and the warmth of West African sounds. Difficult feelings made radiant on his EPs Anxiety<\/em> and Solitude<\/em>, which earned him a nomination at the Swedish Independant Music Awards in 2020. Two other EPs will follow, built on the same theme: Lost in Translation<\/em> on the label Devagar Discos and Sonte Samarala<\/em> on Basy Tropikalne, an EP that we praised in these pages<\/a> at its release.
