Constantly on the lookout for new sub-genres that are as alternative as they are popular, PAM recently told you the history of Cruise<\/a> through its heroes. DJ Cora, DJ Kaywise or Maxivibes were telling us about the generational impact of this completely DIY music originating from the outskirts of Lagos. At the antipodes of the Afrobeats industry, Cruise is characterised by a foot that oscillates between 135 and 150 bpm, playful melodies, movie samples and humorous punchlines. This frenetic groove, which is a favorite of footwork dancers and the rhythm of apartment parties, was created by DJ YK Mule, who probably didn’t imagine adding such a popular style to the already colorful array of West African music. As for Professional Beat, this young DJ and producer came out of the shadows in 2021 with the release of “Kala (Beat<\/a>)”, which propelled him to the rank of the genre’s leading ambassador.
