This project drops after an impressive run of hits, such as \u201cSecond Sermon\u201d and its official remix featuring Burna Boy, the heart-felt \u201cKwaku The Traveler\u201d and more recently the introspective \u201cSoja\u201d. With <em>The Villain I Never Was <\/em>andits 14 tracks, Black Sherif delivers on every promise. He\u2019s versatile, from singing to rapping with his unique voice. He switches seamlessly from choir-drill on tracks like \u201cWasteman\u201d, to emotional reggae on \u201cDon\u2019t Forget Me\u201d, produced by London. TSHA quickly began to incorporate sounds from the African continent in her work, at first seduced by <a href=\"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/tag\/beyonce\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/tag\/beyonce\/\">Queen B<\/a>\u2019s <em>The Lion King: The Gift<\/em> original soundtrack, and taking a peculiar interest in Malian music. The music is our job. We are strong\u201d. <\/em>From the introduction of their second album <em>In Paris<\/em>, the seven young girls of the <a href=\"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/tag\/star-feminine-band\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/tag\/star-feminine-band\/\">Star Feminine Band<\/a> make sure you get it right. Urrice, Sandrine, Marguerite, Julienne, Grace, B\u00e9nie and Anne range from only 12 to 19 years old, but their music is mature and its themes even more so. Throughout the album\u2019s 10 songs, they discuss women and children\u2019s conditions in Beninese and African society at large. They sing in French, English, and the local languages of Benin, more specifically their native city Natitingou. With lyrics like those of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/star-feminine-band-mariage-force\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/star-feminine-band-mariage-force\/\">Le mariage forc\u00e9<\/a>\u201d (\u201cForced marriage\u201d) and \u201cL\u2019excision\u201d, they confidently deliver their messages. They also excel instrumentally, jamming on the bass, guitar, drums, keyboard and more. With this new project <em>Living Sky<\/em>, the Arkestra pays homage to its founder <a href=\"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/tag\/sun-ra\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/tag\/sun-ra\/\">Sun Ra<\/a>, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/tag\/pharoah-sanders\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/tag\/pharoah-sanders\/\">Pharoah Sanders<\/a>. The legendary free-jazz saxophonist who died in September. This album is led once again by Marshall Allen, 98 years old and the last founding member of the group. Allen also composed 3 of the 7 tracks. He documented the electronic music movement on the local scene. So it only makes sense that he drew inspiration from his memories in Ghana to create the many layers of his new album <em>Textures<\/em>. This 11-track gqom and house fuse tells many stories. Hagan told <a href=\"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/hagan-interview\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/pan-african-music.com\/en\/hagan-interview\/\">PAM<\/a> the origins of the third song \u201cRoyal Jama\u201d : <em>\u201cif you watch the Ghanaian football team you will see that before they play they come together and they play rhythms to kind of hype themselves up.
