Africa\u2019s young pop star has told the world he will release his sophomore album with heartbreaker visuals to \u201cContour\u201d.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Initially building his career through the support of Mr Eazi<\/a> and his emPawa program, Joeboy<\/a> has continued to rise since the release of Somewhere Between Love and Magic <\/em>back in February 2021. Mr Eazi\u2019s protege is now setting the stage (and building up tension) for a new album due later this year. Joeboy has released a new music video for the single \u201cContour\u201d as a teaser for the upcoming project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the single, the Nigerian afro-pop star has partnered up with longtime collaborator and producer Tempoe, and fellow Nigerian guitarist Kemena. Tempoe and Joeboy had already worked together on his previous single “Sip (Alcohol),” and on CKay’s track “Love, Nwantiti”, in which Joeboy was later featured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In \u201cContour\u201d, Joeboy sings about heartbreak but tries to imbue the song with some \u201cfeel good\u201d qualities. \u201cA contour is something that\u2019s not straightforward, that\u2019s not symmetrical, not a straight line. This song deals with the contour of a relationship. It\u2019s a heartbreak song, but it\u2019s a \u2018feel good\u2019 heartbreak song<\/em>\u201d, Joeboy further explained. Over a smooth guitar accompaniment, Nigeria\u2019s premier lover boy\u2019s voice resonates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest music video shows him violently dealing with the man responsible for, first seducing the woman he loves, then killing her by accident. Last year<\/a>, in an interview given to PAM, he had revealed taking inspiration from past experiences of those around him: \u201cI have a lot of empathy so when I sing songs people mostly think I\u2019m singing about myself, but it\u2019s just someone else\u2019s story<\/em>.\u201d Here\u2019s to hoping this tragic story is pure fiction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
