With guest curators like Animal Collective and Ostinato Records, and a slew of artists scheduled to play in 2022 including Kinshasa\u2019s KOKOKO!, Le Guess Who? is shaping up to be a can\u2019t miss pan-African musical experience.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Utrecht\u2019s forward thinking Le Guess Who? Festival is a celebration of sound. In that spirit, the organizers invite guest curators and like-minded artists to introduce their special flavor to the line-up. Established artists are set to perform alongside up-and-comers, the unifying principle a love for experimental sounds.  Guest curators include Baltimore\u2019s experimental pop trio Animal Collective, American experimental hip-hop group clipping., London\u2019s CURL Recordings, and Ostinato Records<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Included in Animal Collective selection is Niger\u2019s Tuareg group Les Filles de Illighadad<\/a> and a Habibi Funk<\/a> DJ Set sure to spin North Africa\u2019s rarest disco cuts. clipping. will feature Paris based Aho Ssan who recently released an experimental project with Kenyan producer KMRU<\/a>. Ostinato Records will invite their very own Groupe RTD, the national ceremony outfit of Djibouti, composed of sensational new, young talent backed by old masters; and The Ano Nobo Quartet<\/a>, who deliver a fresh take on Koladera: a guitar-driven, subtly rhythmic music genre from the Cape Verde islands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The general line-up is also a panoply of pan-African talent. There\u2019s Kinshasa\u2019s KOKOKO!<\/a>, who soundtrack the Congolese city\u2019s harsh yet explosively creative reality. The fast-rising British rapper Lex Amor<\/a> who uses her Nigerian roots for inspiration. Avant-garde cosmic sounds from Senegal, via the Wau Wau Collective whose \u201cYaral Sa Doom\u201d is a groundbreaking album spanning borders and musical scenes. Tumi Mogorosi will also make an appearance, an artist, activist and theorist with a focus on the Black liberation. Also in attendance will be South African pianist Abdullah Ibrahim<\/a>, who explores Church and Ragas, to modern jazz and Classical Western styles for a unique take on contemporary piano. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PAM will be featuring two shorts with a new series entitled PAM Meets, a behind the scenes look at our favorite artists as they get ready to perform at the festival. The first editions follow South African gqom pioneer Menzi<\/a> into the depths of wildness and Sudanese DJ and producer Turkana<\/a> as she wields music as a form of empowerment.
