Shatta Wale teams up with his militants for the 'Chacha' visuals

 

With his album Wonderboy out since last October, the productive artist continues to release off-project singles, to his audience’s delight.

Born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., the Ghanaian superstar has nonetheless nothing to prove. Indeed, his record is undeniably considerable: having started music professionally in 2009, the artist has 15 official projects to his name. Nicknamed the “African Dancehall King”, in Ghana he is a sulphurous personality with a powerful influence, known for his hits and his controversies. He has also collaborated with many international artists (including a certain Beyonce) and is currently said to be one of the most awarded dancehall singers in the world. 

Shatta Wale just release his new single “Chacha”. The visuals were shot in Nima, his home neighbourhood, reputed to be one of the most malfamous areas in Accra. The inhabitants interviewed at the beginning of the video claim to be part of the “Shatta Movement”, this legion of fans who see the singer as their ambassador. An ambassador who has surrounded himself with his “militants” Addi Self, Captan and Natty Lee, three emerging artists signed on his label Shatta Movement Empire.
